    WifiWorks was appointed to provide the network infrastructure for the new rooftop bar at Village Underground, one of Shoreditch’s best-known live music and cultural venues.

    The network was designed to support the bar’s essential operational systems, including the kitchen, EPOS terminals and CCTV cameras. Enterprise-grade UniFi switching, a UniFi gateway and E7 access points provide fast, secure and reliable wired and wireless connectivity throughout the new rooftop space.

    This installation forms part of a wider project to migrate the entire Village Underground site from its existing Cisco network to a fully managed UniFi platform. The main club and supporting areas are being upgraded to create one unified network with centralised management, greater visibility and the flexibility to expand as the venue develops.

    Our relationship with the client extends beyond Village Underground. WifiWorks has supported its sister venue, EartH in Dalston, since it first opened in 2018. The success and longevity of that installation demonstrate the reliability of both the original design and our ongoing technical support.

    By using the connected UniFi platform, WifiWorks can centrally monitor and support multiple venues while maintaining clear separation and control at each location. This makes UniFi particularly well suited to multi-site businesses, allowing us to identify issues, manage equipment and provide remote assistance across an entire estate. We have successfully applied this approach for numerous other multi-site organisations.

    Yoti approached Wifiworks as part of the relocation of their London offices, requiring a complete technology infrastructure to be designed, installed and commissioned within the new premises.

    The aim was to create a robust, centrally managed system covering the company’s network, Wi-Fi, CCTV and physical access control, while making sensible use of the existing building infrastructure wherever possible. With the office move already underway, the installation also had to be carefully coordinated around other trades, existing services and the client’s relocation programme.

    Following an initial site survey and design stage, Wifiworks delivered a complete Ubiquiti UniFi solution across the new office. The wireless network was built around six enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 7 access points, providing high-performance coverage throughout the premises and giving Yoti a modern platform capable of supporting a busy working environment and future growth.

    At the heart of the system, Wifiworks built and organised the communications infrastructure, including new patching, structured cabling and the integration of suitable existing network cabling. Existing terminations were brought into the new installation, allowing the rack and network infrastructure to be presented in a much cleaner, more structured and maintainable way.

    A major part of the project was the access control system. Multiple existing office doors had to be retrofitted for electronic access, with eight UniFi Access door hubs installed alongside a combination of G3 readers, keypad access, intercom functionality and associated locking hardware. The work included adapting existing doors for items such as magnetic locks, strike locks and emergency break-glass devices, giving the client a consistent and centrally managed access solution throughout the building.

    The security system was also brought onto the UniFi platform, with seven CCTV cameras installed and integrated with the wider network and access-control environment. This gives the client a single ecosystem for monitoring, recording, access management and day-to-day system administration.

    As with many office relocation projects, careful planning and coordination were just as important as the hardware itself. Wifiworks worked around the client’s move, existing infrastructure and on-site programme, installing new cabling where required, retaining suitable existing infrastructure and ensuring the various systems were commissioned and ready for use as the new office came online.

    The completed installation provides Yoti with a fully integrated UniFi environment covering enterprise Wi-Fi 7, network infrastructure, CCTV and multi-door access control. The result is a clean, scalable and centrally managed technology platform designed to support the company both immediately and as the office continues to evolve.

    Wifiworks was initially approached to upgrade the door access system at this Hertfordshire-based company, replacing an outdated and partially operational system with a modern UniFi Access solution.

    The first phase included three controlled doors with G3 Intercoms and new structured cabling throughout. From there, the project expanded into a wider UniFi rollout encompassing CCTV and network infrastructure.

    For surveillance, we installed a combination of fixed G6 Turret cameras and G6 PTZ cameras, providing comprehensive coverage across the large site. As the property is an impressive older stately-home building, particular care was taken with cable routes, equipment positioning and overall aesthetics to ensure the technology remained sympathetic to the character of the property.

    The network was also upgraded with Wi-Fi 7 U7 XG access points and a series of 48-port UniFi switches, providing a modern high-performance wired and wireless infrastructure. A UNVR Pro was installed as part of the central UniFi platform, bringing the site’s systems together for straightforward management and monitoring.

    The installation presented several practical challenges, including ceilings approaching five metres in height, requiring tower access, as well as limited installation windows to complete and integrate the work with minimal disruption. Extensive pre-configuration helped us deliver the project efficiently within those constraints.

    The client has been extremely happy with the completed installation, and we’re now looking at the next phase of the project. This includes replacing the company’s existing staff check-in/check-out system with additional UniFi G3 Readers and exploring integration with the site’s alarm system – further consolidating the property onto a single UniFi platform….

    Project Overview

    Located on the edge of Hyde Park in Central London, this extraordinary private residence houses what is widely regarded as Europe’s largest indoor residential coral reef aquarium.

    The installation recreates a fully functioning tropical reef ecosystem in a London basement environment — requiring precise environmental control, continuous monitoring, and absolute network reliability to sustain coral growth, marine life, specialist lighting systems, circulation pumps, filtration, and temperature regulation.

    The Challenge

    A living coral reef demands:

    • Stable water temperature within tight tolerances
    • Highly controlled lighting cycles that replicate tropical daylight
    • Continuous circulation, filtration and oxygenation
    • Remote monitoring and alerting
    • Zero downtime

    The client had an existing network and control system in place, but it had become:

    • Difficult to manage
    • Hard to monitor remotely
    • Unreliable under load
    • Lacking proper segmentation between residential and technical systems

    With mission-critical aquarium equipment operating both:

    • Above and around the display tank
    • In the technical plant/sump room
    • Throughout the apartment infrastructure

    — the system needed a complete rethink.

    Our Approach

    After a full technical site survey, we designed and deployed a fully managed network infrastructure built on the Ubiquiti Inc. UniFi platform.

    Key Deliverables

    1. Full Network Migration

    We removed the legacy infrastructure and migrated the entire property onto a managed UniFi ecosystem.

    2. Managed Controller & Switching

    Installed a centralised controller with managed PoE switching to provide:

    • Real-time visibility

    3. Extended Wi-Fi Coverage

    We redesigned and extended wireless coverage throughout the apartment to ensure stable connectivity for both residential use and aquarium systems.

    4. Dedicated Aquarium VLAN

    A critical element of the solution was creating a separate managed VLAN exclusively for the aquarium equipment.

    This allowed:

    • Isolation from the residential network
    • Increased security
    • Controlled traffic prioritisation
    • Greater resilience
    • Easier troubleshooting

    All pumps, lighting systems, temperature controllers and monitoring equipment were segmented onto this dedicated network.

    The solution has now been operational for approximately five years.

    • Firmware and hardware upgrades have been handled seamlessly
    • The client has required minimal reactive support
    • The coral reef continues to thrive under consistent environmental conditions

    Project Overview

    This residential-led new build in Berkhamsted was delivered in partnership with a local developer, giving us full control over the structured cabling, containment and infrastructure from first fix through to final commissioning.

    Set in the Hertfordshire countryside with strong transport links into London, the property comprises:

    • Main residence
    • Gym & salon barn
    • Separate guest barn
    • Outdoor pool area
    • Gated entrance and driveway

    From day one, the brief was clear: create a fully integrated smart home ecosystem built on a single, scalable platform.

    The Challenge

    This wasn’t just a house — it was a small estate.

    We needed to deliver:

    • Reliable broadband in a semi-rural location
    • Seamless Wi-Fi across multiple buildings
    • Secure access control at the gate and main entrances
    • Full CCTV coverage
    • Multi-room audio
    • Media rooms and work-from-home office spaces

    • Outdoor connectivity extending to the pool area

    Our Approach

    1️⃣ Rural Connectivity Backbone

    The property is powered by a Gen 3 Starlink installation, providing high-speed broadband where traditional fibre wasn’t viable.

    We designed the internal infrastructure to maximise performance from the Starlink connection, ensuring stable distribution across all buildings.

    2️⃣ Full Ubiquiti Inc. UniFi Deployment

    This project was delivered as a complete UniFi ecosystem, including:

    • Managed gateway and switching
    • Internal Wi-Fi across the main house
    • External Wi-Fi coverage across gardens and pool
    • Building-to-building connectivity
    • CCTV surveillance
    • Gate entry and door access control
    • Segmented VLANs for security, IoT and user traffic

    Each building — including the gym/hairdressing salon barn and the separate guest accommodation barn — was fully integrated into the same managed infrastructure.

    3️⃣ Smart Living & Entertainment

    Beyond networking, the property included:

    • Multi-room audio zones
    • Dedicated media/snug rooms
    • Multiple TV distribution areas
    • Home office connectivity
    • Integrated lighting control

    While shading solutions were not included, the property otherwise functions as a near-complete smart home environment.

    • Rack layouts were optimised from the start
    • Wi-Fi placement was strategically planned
    • External connectivity was built in, not retrofitted
    • Gate and security systems were seamlessly integrated
