Project overview
We were contacted by the management team of a large friary and retreat site in Oxfordshire, comprising six buildings spread across a rural estate. Despite the remote location, the site benefited from a fibre connection, but performance across the buildings was inconsistent and unreliable.
The challenge
While the incoming connection was stable, Wi-Fi coverage and internal distribution were poor. Over time, a mixture of legacy cabling, damaged links, ad-hoc repeaters, and partially deployed systems had created fragmentation and performance issues. The solid construction of the main building added further complexity.
Our approach
We began with a full site survey to assess the incoming fibre, existing infrastructure, and future development plans. The brief required a reliable, cost-conscious solution that could scale as new accommodation was added.
We designed a fully hardwired network using structured cabling, consolidated switching, and a unified management platform. Wireless meshing was avoided to ensure consistency across the estate.

The outcome

Living in a typical west London long thin terraced house, the WiFi was great at one end of the house (where the router was of course) and non-existent at the other. The off the shelf boosters I tried only gave very patchy coverage. So I found WiFiworks and lo and behold, I have good WiFi coverage throughout the whole house. What I really liked about them was simple: they responded quickly, came when they said they would, did what they said they would and charged what they said they would. If only everybody one deals with were like that. I recommend them.
