Wifi Works was contacted by Shell to do a last-minute Wi-Fi solution for Shell’s Azure development team. As the team were using nonstandard corporate laptops, they were unable to use the standard corporate Wi-Fi network.

Working with Colt we were able to deploy a solution in super-fast time. The solution consisted of gigabit fibre, Barracuda firewall, cloud managed Ruckus R730 access points and Ruckus ICX switches.

The key deliverables were that the access points must be Wifi 6 compliant with a cloud managed interface. The choice was between the Ruckus R730’s and Cisco Meraki MR55 access points. As there are not many Access Points that are AX compliant the choice is quite limited.

A complete solution was delivered within 3 days of Shell contact us. We conducted a full site survey to assess placement of the access points and to study the rf environment, making sure we did not have any interference with the existing Cisco access points. We had to work with Shell’s i.t engineers to deliver the fibre from the second floor to the fourth floor.
